The exhibition
The exhibition presents architecture and urban planning as forms following the sun. Attention to site and climate have lead the firm Lahav-Rigg to create since the beginning of the 1980’s conceptual forms following a theoretical investigation of climate-oriented construction adapted to the local context. A climate-oriented plan for a sustainable building develops into an urban concept of place and environment. A green façade is created through an innovative, yet long-existing, concept of the development of a vertical space as part of urban building design.
The exhibition acts as a retrospective of climate-oriented design since the 1970’s in Israeli architecture. With the current developments and understanding of sustainable architecture and its importance in the changing world climate, this exhibition presents Lahav-Rigg’s struggle to combine this theme in its projects and designs.
The exhibition’s design presents interior and exterior borders, between natural, manufactured and recycled materials, and includes a digital presentation of built projects and unrealized proposals.

Architect Ruth Lahav
Born in Israel. Graduate of the Faculty of Architecture, Technion, Haifa. Practiced in London for several years. Lectures at the Bezalel Academy (Jerusalem), and is senior lecturer at the Technion and Shenkar College. During 1980-2003 worked together with architect Tony Rigg, and in 2003 established R. Lahav – Rigg Architects in Tel Aviv. Together with arch. Rigg managed the architecture and energy workgroup of the UIA during 2000 – 2009. Winner of numerous competitions and awards (jointly and separately), lectured widely in Israel and abroad. Arch. Lahav’s work has been widely published.
Since her studies and until today, her work deals with climate-oriented construction from theory to practice. Arch. Lahav’s projects include residential and public buildings, offices, managed care facilities, urban plans. Her projects detail the implementation of sustainable construction through the analysis of site and climate, from structure and environment design, energy conservation, and integration of alternative energy solution.
